250 AMERICA FLAG – LAID FILLING Techniques                                                      $475

Prerequisites: Basic Needlepoint Skills.  You should be very comfortable with all tent stitches, waste knots and know how to read Stitch Diagrams. Please bring your own scissors.

Get ready for our Semi quincentennial American Year! Yes, even if you can’t pronounce it, that’s what it’s called! We’re united in being proud that our union is still standing after 250 years and we can all agree Americans love a good party so let’s celebrate. Stitching Old Glory to commemorate a landmark year and a fantastic 4th is a good thing! 

Laid fillings are an old technique that allow you to fill large and small areas quickly by overlaying stitches across a ground thread. The blend of two or more threads creates a very sophisticated, patterned look, that works up quickly and once learned, the technique can be creatively modified and applied to any future projects.  This class will walk you through each of 13 different laid fillings, as well as two additional decorative stitches, on a charming flag project designed by Patricia Sone, one of our favorite master stitchers who also created the stitch guide.   Your Kit includes: 13m Canvas, all threads, Needles, Threader, Stretcher Bars, Tacks, Stitch Guide and real Mother of Pearl Buttons to embellish the stars with.  Lunch will be served both days.
